Welcome to Bands by Winchel online shop!
Here you will find the most beautiful, comfortable and durable custom rings made from all natural materials. I have 2 base options to start out. My buffalo horn rings are a deep shiny black with a few spots and streaks of contrasting colors. My deer antler rings are the opposite being shiny off white with minimal spots of contrasting colors. You can add to the contrast and look with an inlay of wood on both options (inlays coming soon).
Why choose horn? Horn is made of keratin same as your finger nails or animal claws or hair only much stronger. Historically horn has been the preferred material by the most talented artisan craftsmen in human history across the world. It makes some of the most impressive looking Hair brooches, combs, belt buckles, spoons, and more. It has been popular for thousands of years. The minutemen that fought for independance in the US all had a powder horn for relaoding their musket. Horns have stabbed lions removing them from the backs of calves. They have also provided audible signaling in many historic battles.
Why choose antler? Antler is Bone only it is less dense making it lighter weight and it is intended to withstand incredible forces. Bone is made of collagen and calcium. Bone has been popular just as long or longer than horn. While bone does not quite get the same level of shine and beauty as horn it is the most durable option. some of the oldest artifacts that provided the most evidence of our human past are made of bone. The oldest bones ever found are prehistoric dinosaur bones tracing back hundreds of millions of years. Bone rings were very popular in Norse viking and native american cultures and they are making a comeback. They will stand the test of time.
You can expect multiple lifetimes from my bone rings as they are argueably the strongest rings you will ever buy. You can expect incredible beauty from my horn rings as they are capable of giving a deep shine with a bit more contrast of color than bone/antler. Both are very strong and make a perfect symbol of love.
Another option? (coming soon) Maybe you don't want just a black or white ring. That is where wood can be the answer to adding some contrast. I have black walnut and juniper burl on hand. Other woods will come as my sales increase. sourcing and storing beautiful and authentic exotic woods is both expensive and difficult. The black walnut wood is very dark in color and has lots of contrast. The juniper burl has a medium color and medium contrast with lots of movement thanks to the burl. Either of them is a beautiful addition to my horn or antler rings.
